Meet in Faringdon Market Place on the Summer Solstice for a roll through Organic Farmlands - ending up at the Wind Farm Open Day and World Record Attempt! The aim of the ride is to get the message across to as many local people as possible about the joys of cycling, the health benefits to be gained and the part that cycling can play in reducing local car journeys and hence one's carbon-footprint. Anyone who can safely cycle either 10k (short route) or 20k (full route) is welcome - the pace will be leisurely! The full cycle route leaves Faringdon Market Place at 9am on Sat 21st June, and travels via some of the local 'Ecofarms', with a stop at one of these at approx 10km for refreshments / bacon butties, then on to the Westmill Windfarm (approx 20km total). The Windfarm is holding an Open Day, with food and entertainment, and at 2pm there is the option to be part of a world-record attempt on 'turbine-hugging'!! Tags: Faringdon Eco week |
