‘Oxfordshire Floodscapes' Photo Competition
‘Oxfordshire Floodscapes' is a photo competition for anyone with a digital image of the flooding. All photos will be entered into a competition, with a cash prize of £150 on offer to the best photo. Two second prizes are also on offer - one for under 16s, and another for people aged 16 and over. Photos, marked with where and when they were taken, and the age of the person who took them, should be sent to floodscapes@oxtrust.org.uk by 31 October. Photos can have been taken anywhere in the county, and can deal with any aspect of the recent floods.

August 2007 was an average month in Oxford in term of temperature. Mean air temperate and mean maximum air temperature were only slightly above the expected from the historical means. Mean minimum grass temperature and mean minimum concrete temperature were slightly below the expected from the long term means. This August was drier than expected. Total rainfall of 38.2 mm was 20.0 less than the historical average. The first half of the month (the 1st to the 12th) was very sunny-average sunshine hour was over 10 hours for each day over this period.

Friday 28th September, 8.00 The Al Gore film "An Inconvenient Truth" will be showing on in St Margarets Church, North Oxford followed by refreshments and discussion.
Saturday 29th, is a big exhibition at St Margarets of all the
different ways in which we can live greener lives (including plenty of
things for kids to do). There will be people calculating carbon footprints,
demonstrating pedal power, home improvements, fun transport, face painting
(green?) ethical fashion, positove waste, a pledgeometer, and many other
things, including a fair trade café!
