What an evening!Over 80 people crammed into Wolvercote Village hall for a gameshow -like start to the evening. We heard short reports from over 30 groups who are active on climate change locally, follwed by intense networking and idea sharing. The website will shortly be updated to show the groups.
Winners of the Climate Communities Competition
We received 19 entries for this competition, but alas could only choose 5 prize winners who are listed below. See details of all the projects who entered. If you'd like to support their project, email info@climatex.org and we'll put you in touch. Sustainable Kirtlington - Organise a village fête with the theme of sustainability: a ‘Footprint Fair' Grandpont Climate and Energy Optimists (GECCO) - to reduce domestic energy use in Grandpont. Sustainable Charlbury - help raise awareness of home energy use and encourage energy saving measures in the home. We intend to do this through creating ‘sample energy reduction strategies' on several homes of different sizes in Charlbury. Brightwell cum Sotwell Environment Group - Pilot Phase of Thermal Imaging Project - collecting thermal images of 20 contrasting houses in the village.These will show where heat is escaping and where remedial measures are needed. and Low Carbon Wolvercote - to hold an expo on renewable energy and energy efficiency in Wolvercote in May
Archive publicity: Over 30 community groups are engaged with climate change in Oxfordshire - how many of them do you know, and what could you gain from sharing ideas and insights? This evening event will be a chance to meet other groups, get new ideas, share what's gone well (and what could go better) and see how you can best support each other in the coming months and beyond. It will be an ideal opportunity for people who are interested in setting up a local climate project to gain ideas and insights from those who've done it - and be fun!
