Adam Bumpus - researching offsetting

Carbon offsetting is a hot topic at the moment, with the announcement in early February of a carbon offset Gold Standard. But who are the people involved in the projects? What are their experiences? What's it like to be a recipient of carbon offset finance? Is it beneficial to their lives?
Adam BumpusAdam Bumpus is a DPhil student at the University of Oxford. From February until April this year, he will be interviewing people involved in a variety of carbon offset projects in Honduras, which forms part of Climate Care's portfolio. Climate Care is an Oxford based carbon-offsetting company.

Adam's research is investigating the functioning of carbon markets in relation to carbon offsets and the development potential they may hold. Focusing internationally, he has a specific interest in the many linkages between networks of actors involved in carbon offsets.

Listen to an interview with him which we managed to squeezer in before he left, in which he elaborates on his research, asking the question 'can these proejcts provide finance to help people survive the impacts of climate change, as well as provide some measurement of development?.
